BCE Inc. said it has signed its first 5G network equipment supplier agreement with Finnish company Nokia Corp.
“Bell is ready to deliver initial 5G service in urban centres across Canada as next-generation smartphones come to market in 2020, and will continue to enhance 5G access speeds, capacity and coverage as additional 5G wireless spectrum, including in the 3.5 GHz band, becomes available this year through the federal government’s spectrum auction process,” Bell said in a statement.
BCE also raised its dividend after reporting that its fourth-quarter net earnings attributable to common shareholders grew nearly 11 per cent compared with a year ago. The five per cent dividend-hike raises its annual common share dividend to $3.33.
